TECHNICAL SUPPORT BULLETIN -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How to install OEM Windows 2000 on a FAT32 partition using the full size of the hard drive Applicable Machine: Satellite Pro 4300, and Tecra 8100 series Applicable Operating System: OEM Windows 2000 Issue: --------- OEM Windows 2000 will install to a default FAT16 Partition of 2 Gigabytes Solution: --------- * This solution will install Windows 2000 to a FAT32 Partition the full size of the hard drive. 1. Download the startup disk (TStartup.exe) and the boot disk (TBoot.exe) from http://www.toshiba.ca. 2. Extract each to a floppy diskette. (syntax: "filename a:", where filename is the name of the file) ie. tboot a:. 3. Label each diskette accordingly (ie. 'TStartup', and 'TBoot'). 4. Insert the diskette labeled 'TStartup', and Restore CD #1 into your notebook, and then restart. 5. Follow the instructions onscreen. 6. Insert the diskette labeled 'TBoot' when prompted. 7. Provide Windows 2000 setup with the required information. 8. After Windows 2000 has been installed, go to "Start", "Run" and type "c:\i386\winnt32 /cmdcons", and press "OK". NOTE: For the Tecra 8100 French Windows NT/2000 3 CD-ROM set, type “d:\i386\winnt32 /cmdcons” instead. "Do you want to install the Recovery Console?". 9. Choose "Yes". "The Windows 2000 Recovery Console has been successfully installed." 10. Press "OK". 11. Remove the 'TBoot' diskette from the floppy drive. 12. Restart the computer. 13.
